Meet Up

1.6.14

August, 2013 was the month that I had the impromptu idea of creating Naturally Jes. With very little knowledge based on blogging – apart from reading Zoe’s blog, which I found through YouTube – I thought maybe it could be fun to share my life through a website the same way she did.

In August, 2013 I had very little to no awareness on how big the blogging community was, and little did I know how it would have been an immense part of my life ten months later, and the amazing people I met through blogging is beyond me and I’m endlessly grateful for pursuing blogging as a hobby.

A little while ago now, I was informed that two beautiful people I followed, Sam and Emma, were coming to Melbourne, Australia. This was unexplainably thrilling for both Meg and I since we already lived in the same city, and had already met before and immediately it was something I was looking forward to.

A little while after, the day arrived where I would meet Sam and Emma, and despite feeling rather excited, I was terribly and admittedly anxious.

Traveling to the city by train, I was running through what I would say to them, or what they would think of me. The question “what if” ran through my head quite a bit. I must say however at the end of the day, I don’t know what I was so worried about. Both Emma and Sam were such lovely and understanding girls, I had no reason to be anxious.

When I finally approached the city, and reached Emma’s hotel – where we planned to meet – I felt more relaxed, and ready to meet them, and when I did, the first thing I said was “who do I hug first!?”. It was surreal seeing two people I’ve been conversing with over the internet are now in front of me. In real life.

After meeting and greeting we then made our way to St. Kilda. We started with fresh cups of juice and delicious pita bread with dips at a charming café by the name of Abbey Road. There we talked about anything and everything. From blogging to our personal lives. At this point the vibe was fairly relaxed, so I began to relax even more.

After spending quite some time on the very comfortable café couches and chairs in Abbey Road, we were on our way again. This time, we went down by a pier and went nuts with taking photographs, which we couldn’t help but laugh at considering we all had our cameras out.

Considering we were close, Meg’s dad –who was a gem taking us to and fro due to Meg being unable to drive – drove us to Brighton beach which I thought would have been a hoot for both Sam and Emma since it is pretty cute after all with beach storage houses lining up along the beach. We took more photos, of course.

Finally after having my shoes being filled with sand, we made our way back to the central of the city to do more exploring, but first, Sam checked into her hotel and there we had a little rest, and laughed about the fact that once again we all had our cameras out. It was actually pretty hilarious, and I must admit, the lighting in her hotel room was beautiful. I couldn’t help myself.

We then made our way through the city exploring more and more.

Then after a little while more of walking around, we decided we were hungry, so we stopped for something to eat at The Quarter.

Of course, I get something to do with pasta. Because, I mean, who doesn’t like pasta?

By now, we were all pretty exhausted, so after a little bit more wandering through the streets of Melbourne, we went back to Emma’s hotel and parked ourselves in the lobby.

This was my favourite part of the day – even though altogether it was amazing – we got to know each other on a deeper level which I appreciated. I felt like I had known Emma, Sam and Meg longer than what I already have, and I hope to one day meet with them soon, and maybe meet you!

  2. Your blog is so beautiful, and your photography is stunning. I had to follow your blog straight away. It reminds me of the good old days before blogging became "big" (ie. before brands got involved) but it's so nice that yours has such a personal touch. Beautiful blog! Keep up the good work! xxx

  3. How exciting, and what a beautiful place to meet them in! I really hope one day I will find the time and money to finally visit Australia (top of my travel wishlist)! And I totally agree with what Temporary:Secretary says - I love how your blog has incredible photos like the 'big' blogs nowadays, but remains so personal and just... lovely! Haha, I'm not sure what the word I am looking for is, but lovely will do ;)

  9. Great things always come out of blogging! Oh I've certainly hoped for a day when I could meet a fellow blogger. I may potentially have the chance to meet Meg in a month, so fingers crossed for that! If only I could also meet all you lovely girls.
