I’m a tourist in my own city, let’s face it.
I haven’t seen a lot of my country, let alone my city – but I’m working on that. This weekend Kev and I decided to do something a little different. Rather than finding an ocean with neutral colours and touches of beautiful blues, I decided to try adding more colour into my photography.
The Royal Botanical Gardens was the perfect place to go, and I had not yet been there.
Funnily enough I doubted the Royal Botanical Gardens quite a
bit. I always thought it was a field filled with trees and flowers – I thought
I could go anywhere with trees and pretty flowers. Hence why I never bothered.
But the Royal Botanical Gardens was more than just a field filled with trees
and pretty flowers.
It was an adventure.
It had beautiful lakes, different pathways leading into different areas of the garden itself and cute cafes. And even canoe rides along the lake.
Can you see how wrong I was about the place now?
Not to mention, it was a beautiful place to photograph. A lot different to what I am used to, but beautiful nevertheless.

great shots!! i always love exploring in my own city, it can be so much fun!
ReplyDeleteAll of your photos are brilliant, but I just love the one with the blanket of leaves.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of us take our home city for granted and never really explore - I certainly wish I experienced a lot more of what London had to offer me before I moved - so it is great that you are doing just that. That, and experimenting with your photography.

Bits & Bobs
Really lovely pictures. We have a castle in my town and even though I visited lots of times when I was little I really want to go back now with my camera. It's funny knowing that people visit just to see it when I pass it every time I'm on the bus. xxx
ReplyDeleteThese are such crisp and clear photos! I love them!

Such beautiful images Jess. Your photography is seriously getting killer good! wow!!
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you Sam x
DeleteJes! I can't remember if we spoke about this at the time but you are so right about being a tourist in your hometown. It became so apparent to me when Sam and Emma visited and I sort of got to see Melbourne in a new way. There is so much of it that I don't notice day to day, and take for granted. Like that awesome little lane that Sam stayed in with the Chinese places.
ReplyDeleteI love these photos! There is nothing greater than floral photography, in my old lady opinion haha.
I couldn't agree more. There is so much that we pass without even realising, and taking it all in.
DeleteI need to go on another adventure with my camera through the depths of Melbourne and really take it in. Kev and I already planned another trip to the Botanical Gardens for the day so we can take it in this time.
Thank you so much! I love floral too in my opinion :) x
Gorgeous pics!! Thank you so so much for all your support during this hard time for Kev and I!! xoxo

I think it's good to be a tourist in your own city sometimes - it's so fun to explore your home as a tourist! Anyway, I love these images! Especially the picture of the tree branch next to the out of focus photo of the same branch. Lovely post altogether! :)
